When temperatures climb to the 90s, it’s time to play in the mud. Making mudpies is a cool way to spend  a hot summer day. All you need is dirt, water, garden trowels, pie pans, plastic utensils and flowers. Mix up some dirt and give your child the tools to become a gourmet dirt chef. Gardening tools and natural embellishments – sticks, flowers, rocks – turn a regular mud pie into a soil soufflé. Keep a hose nearby for cleanup.
